It’s the end of the year and Spotify graciously created a playlist of my top 100 most played songs for 2017, conveniently called “top songs for 2017.” It’s my second such playlist (2016 was jammed full of good music, some new and plenty not so new) and let me tell you, this playlist is full of songs I remember putting on repeat and just letting them play endlessly.
Sometimes a song is so freaking good, so well made, speaks so clearly to my inner being that I simply have to listen to it… over and over and over. Constantly, without stop.
Here’s a couple:
- “Let Go – Sir Sly Remix” by RAC, Kele, MNDR
- “Warrior” by Steve James, Lights
- “Strong – RAC Remix” by London Grammar, RAC
- Stranger than Earth” by Purity Ring
In other news, I painted a picture of Dianne. 🙂
Journey before Destination
“Why fit in when you were born to stand out” – Dr. Seuess
Feels good to have another character from the story fleshed out and rendered. Veronica is one of Red’s old teammates and a main antagonist in the story.
She stands at the forefront of most of the opposition Red experiences at the academy and the two loathe each other deeply.
It’s nice to have a face to the description of the character and it’s already starting to pull ideas out of my head story wise.
Might have to continue moving forward with some of the other characters and see what happens.

Life surely is some sort of journey.
Many steps taken in one or different directions – over a lifetime – will take you somewhere. But is it the place you want to be?
I’ve found myself deliberately (and accidentally) in places, doing things that if I’d asked my younger self, I would have surely laughed at the question.
Regardless, here I am.
Luckily I’m still me, haven’t lost myself or my love of art.

– Erol Ozan
Alive and kicking. What’s there to complain about? Going to do a quick art stream today starting at 3pm MST. Stop by and say hello twitch.tv/thefro3po
Got a quick sketch in before work the other day, really wanted to do some characters stuff (not portrait) something quick cause I only had about an hour or so. I like how it turned out. I’ve dipped my toes back into the Premiere pool and am enjoying myself. I still have to work on some intro/outro stuff for my videos, but that’ll be down the road.
If you’re able to leave me any feedback on these timelapse vids, I’d really enjoy to hear it. Anything helps, is the speed too fast, music okay, etc?
A lot of late nights, accumulating into a collection. A conscious effort to accelerate the very thing that occupies my everyday mind dream. I walk a path, I make the journey… the journey makes me. Not stopping when I’m hurting, just attempting to bear fruit before the curtains catch me.
Recently started dabbling in streaming my creative efforts (https://www.twitch.tv/thefro3po come check me out, I’m streaming Tuesdays at 12-4pm MST and occasionally during the week when I get off of work 11pm to 12am MST ). A scary and exhilarating experience, but one that has been most rewarding. Here’s the broadcast of my first stream saved onto my YouTube account. I’ll be looking to do some time lapse versions of these in the future whenever I dust off my Premiere knowledge and stop procrastinating.
Sleep beckons me…
“When I run after what I think I want, my days are a furnace of stress and anxiety; if I sit in my own place of patience, what I need flows to me, and without pain. From this I understand that what I want also wants me, is looking for me and attracting me. There is a great secret here for anyone who can grasp it.” – Rumi
Portraits have always been my favorite things to sketch. People in general have always been a bit more interesting than environments and I tend to lean in that direction when I sketch, but I’d like to start incorporating more environments in my sketches…
We’ll see what happens.
Streaming has been going well, I’ve started to upload the full streams onto my YouTube channel and will be tackling some timelapse videos as well as some 1 min or a couple min clips from the stream. Doing my best to use the existing content and distribute them amongst the social media and other avenues in the best format that makes sense and allows them to be more easily consumed.
So far, being limited by time and having the pressure of recording or even having people watch me record/stream has helped me immensely. Forcing me to make the most out of my time and letting go of my ego and just continuously solve for the next creative problem.
The Journey is getting exciting
P.S. – future art plans = painting, art contests, art forums, t-shirts, blank comic covers.
“Unless you are willing to try, fail miserably, and try again, success won’t happen.” – Phillip Adams
I’ve been dying to jump back into photoshop, if not just to play around a bit.. feels like forever since I’ve been able to paint anything digitally. Now that it’s out of my system, I should do it again. 🙂
For now I’m off to bed.

Earthly Elements . . .
Slow weekend, not a whole lot getting accomplished.
I’m excited that my training at work is over with and I don’t have to wake up early or deal with traffic anymore. It’s the little things really. 🙂

Ryhming Blog Titles . . .
Put some time aside today to enjoy myself and have fun creating again, feels like forever since I’ve been able to just sit down and paint. I’m glad the majority of the work on the site is complete, I still have to finish my about page and continue to update the blog archives, but I was able to fix the portfolio section and am happy with how it turned out.
I’m aiming for a Spring release of a handful of T-Shirt designs, which means I’ll have to create some T-Shirt designs… and put together a store. But that’s a worry for another time.
The Journey Continues
“You must learn to let go. Release the stress. You were never in control anyway.” – Steve Maraboli
Three Years Ago . . .
Mr. Forrester my Web Design teacher had the class create a WordPress blog as part of one of our final assignments.
Looking back I couldn’t be more happier that he did. The community of artists that I’ve met and interacted with have pushed and encouraged me, helping me grow as an artist and also nurture my own style.
Sometimes creating and expressing yourself can be a difficult and intimidating task. But being surrounded by people (both similar and different to myself) all going through and dealing with the same thing helped me and gave me courage to keep pushing my craft forward.
I wouldn’t have made it this far without you all.
For that, I’m eternally grateful.
Here’s to the Journey

That moment when you stand peering at your own reflection, face to face with the person you’ve become. Seeing less of the person you feel you are and more a man made up of many compromises. How strange that that person can be the same me as the actual me and yet not be me.
